The Best Songs Of 2016: Quarter 1

2016 got off to a slamming start. We saw big releases by Rihanna and Kanye West as well as triumphant returns from Chairlift, Miike Snow, Anderson .Paak and DJ Dodger Stadium. It’s hard to know whether these songs will stand the test of time and still taste as ripe by the year’s end but right now these are the tracks we feel have stood out in the first three months of the year.

Below is our Best Songs Of 2016: Q1 Spotify playlist running from Kanye’s gospel-flavoured Ultralight Beams to ANOHNI’s powerful Drone Bomb Me with a little Young Thug, Kiiara and Mura Masa in between. We’re also celebrating the best local releases with cuts by Nina Las Vegas, Elizabeth Rose and Paces.

As much as I'm a sucker for anything coated in '90s nostalgia, I'm excited by the ever-turning wheel of new music. Here's where I present the finds of my dig.
