The Pulse: Mura Masa, Japanese Wallpaper & More Round Out Your Week In New Electronic Music

Written By Zanda Wilson on 03/18/2017

THE PULSE is a weekly wrap up by the interns, catching you up on all the must-hear electronic music released over the past week and sound-tracking your weekend house parties.

Allday – In Motion (feat. Japanese Wallpaper)

Wow, talk about unexpected. Aussie hip hop golden boy Allday really bares his soul on this new track. We knew he could sing, but his dulcet tones on this track are beyond anything we could have expected, as he matches his voice to some really gorgeous, understated Japanese Wallpaper production.

MUTO – Wildfire (feat. Deutsch Duke)

Sydney producer MUTO has unveiled his first new music for 2017; teaming up with UK producer and vocalist Deutsch Duke a powerful single called Wildfire. Its incredible how much MUTO packs into the production, exploring both fleetingly thin and intensely dense textures as the track rises and falls, intertwining with Duke’s silky smooth vocals.

Mura Masa & Charli XCX – 1 Night

This could easily be the strongest week of collab releases this year so far, with Mura Masa and Charli XCX linking up in a move straight out of left field. She is clearly at the top of her game at the moment, following up her EP last week with this new cut 1 Night. This is definitely Mura Masa’s poppiest production in some time, and this track also shows that Charli XCX can craft vocals so suit so many different styles of production.

SUPER CRUEL – November (feat. Lisa Mitchell)

SUPER CRUEL is a dream team made up of two of Australia’s hottest young producers, Tigerilla and Porches. Their first project together sees them enlist Lisa Mitchell for the hard-hitting, glitchy and all round banging November. We cannot wait to see what else these guys have in store for us this year.

Lastlings – Stranger

Lastlings have finally unveiled their second EP Verses, and Stranger is one of the darker and most impactful cuts from it. It’s hypnotic, its brooding, and its everything we love about this emerging brother-sister duo. Its also crazy to see how much Lastlings’ music has matured in such a short space of time.

ZHU – Nightcrawler

The enigmatic producer returns with his first new track for the year, Nightcrawler. As if we needed reminding that ZHU is mysterious, this shadowy new release combines creepy melodic references with a truly potent bassline, making it a perfect late night track for the club.
