The week’s best drops, ranked.

10. Cosmo’s Midnight – Mind Off

Aussie duo Cosmo’s Midnight are back with a new song Mind Off and it’s likely to do exactly what it says on the box. Mind Off was co-written by George Reid of AlunaGeorge and also features the breezy vocals of Clementine Douglas of Kudu Blue. It’s got that typical Cosmo’s aesthetic of sounding effortless while maintaining its intricacy and fragility.

9. Ruel – Don’t Tell Me

14 year-old Ruel is basically superhuman. At such a young age, he’s already showcasing a voice that sounds like its lived a million lifetimes and his latest single Don’t Tell Me houses that voice perfectly. It’s a soulful, simple track that gives him a really good chance to show off exactly what he’s got.

8. Kesha – Woman

Following last week’s powerful Praying, Kesha has dropped an upbeat number but it’s not the upbeat, club-ready Kesha we’re used to. This one’s a soulful, rock ‘n’ roll tune which we admit sounds horrendous on paper but Kesha takes it to a place of sass and empowerment.

7. Bonzai – I Feel Alright

Bonzai is back with another A+ single I Feel Alright. The track is her first since her Lunacy EP which dropped last year and it feels like her brightest moment yet. It’s a positive anthem that leads pop-leaning verses into frantic, M.I.A.-inspired drops. The whole thing is pretty exciting and another step up for the Brit that keeps getting better.

6. Kllo – Virtue

Kllo are ready to unleash their debut album and they’ve introduced it with their new single Virtue. Virtue feels like a step up for them, creating a much richer, denser soundscape that builds around Chloe Kaul’s delicately soulful vocal.

5. Lana Del Rey – Summer Bummer (Feat. A$AP Rocky & Playboi Carti)

Lana Del Rey and A$AP Rocky are a strange pairing but for some reason, they feel so right together. This melodramatic, summertime anthem is intoxicating with Lana and Rocky working so well together it’s like were listening to an audio re-creation of Grease. Their chemistry is so strong Carti ends up sounding like a third wheel.

4. The Kite String Tangle – Beneath The Canopy

There are so many highlights on The Kite String Tangle’s debut album but this one scores our top pick. The second song on the record Beneath The Canopy slides effortlessly on from the opener Waiting. It’s dense and emotional while still keeping two feet planted firmly on the dancefloor.

3. Selena Gomez – Fetish (Feat. Gucci Mane)

Something has switched for Selena in the past two releases and she’s really nailing what’s right for her voice and how she can play to her strengths. This latest Fetish is all about wordplay and seduction. She makes something pretty simple, really exciting and that seems to be her thang at the moment. Power to her, she’s killing it right now.

2. Tyler, The Creator – Boredom

Tyler, The Creator is entering the golden period of his career. Everything he’s releasing right now is next level and this latest drop of Scum Fuck Flower Boy is no different. It’s a soulful, sun-drenched number that soundtracks pensive afternoon thinking without being as lame as that sounds.

1. Empress Of – Go To Hell

Empress Of has returned today with a new drop Go To Hell. The song was produced by Empress Of herself and was written in collaboration with Chairlift’s Caroline Polachek. It’s a perfect pairing as they’ve both nailed alternative yet addictive pop writing and this is a shining example of that.
