Troye Sivan’s Bloom is out on Friday but we’ve had a cheeky listen ahead of its release and decided on our favourite.
Apart from the title track, Plum defines the record most out of the song you haven’t heard yet.
It’s a perky pop anthem that revolves around its infectious hook, “Even the sweetest plum has only got so long.”
Plum may be pondering the end of a relationship but instrumentally it’s sunny, as if it’s documenting the dying days of summer. Think the final scenes of Call Me By Your Name played out in a pop song.
You’re not going to find a pop song as simultaneously sweet and bittersweet as this which is testament to Sivan’s ability to document the uncertainty in a relationship without pretending to know the ending.
Bloom is great but Plum is going to instantly grab you. It’s not out until Friday obviously but you can check out the album’s closer Animal below.
