1010 Benja SL is a newbie who, before this EP, had only released two incredible standalone tracks. Now, he’s dropped Two Houses, an impressive six-track effort.
Released via the xx and Sampha’s label Young Turks, 1010 created the project entirely by himself and it sounds appropriately individual.
1010 moves from ’80s-leaning funk on Ultimaybe to explicit RnB that pushes it even darker further than The Weeknd does on his most twisted material.
While comparisons can be reached for, Two Houses is driven by its flair for experimentalism. No song goes by without strange sounds or mind-altering vocal manipulation.
This EP should ensure he’s more than just one to watch.
