11 Songs You Need To Hear This Week: Billie Eilish, Sigrid, Tayla Parx And More

Who run the world?

11. Ava Max – So Am I

How do you follow up a breakthrough, worldwide smash? Make it again, just slightly different. This may be Sweet But Psycho part 2 but there’s no denying it’s a bop.

10. Cupcakke – Bird Box

We haven’t seen Bird Box but it’s hard to imagine it being better than cupcakke’s audible version. When cupcakke is on her bullshit she’s truly unstoppable.

9. Billie Eilish – Wish You Were Gay

Billie Eilish knows exactly what she was doing. The internet was always going to blow up for a song called Wish You Were Gay and that’s exactly what it did. A clever, sharp-tongued pop song.

8. Eliott – Shaking My Hips

Aussie artist Eliott’s voice is insane and she gets a real chance to show it off here. This is a thundering ballad produced by fellow Australian Jack Grace. It showcases her talents as an artist better than ever before.

7. Maren Morris – The Feels

Maren Morris’ GIRL record is out today and while it’s definitely not a full tilt towards pop there are some bops on there like this one. The chorus of this one just rolls from one word to another with such ease, it’s hard not to love.

6. NYNE – I Think You’re

NYNE popped up on Allday’s Sides back in 2017 and since then has released just two solo singles including this new one I Think You’re. It’s the best things we’ve ever heard from her showcasing her slinky songwriting over a dark, dancehall-tinged beat.

5. Maya B – Dollar To A Diamond

Maya B is going to pop off this year. The US artist has been quietly dropping tunes for a while now but Dollar To A Diamond feels like a breakthrough. It’s a hard-hitting song dripping in cool but it’s that experimental production that takes it to a new level.

4. Tierra Whack – Gloria

Tierra Whack has decided that 2019 is going to be her year and she’s wasting zero time in making that happen. Gloria is her third release in three weeks and shows she’s going for both quantity and quality. It’s a wonky, otherworldly rap track that tells us exactly what she thinks about the industry right now.

3. Kindness – Cry Everything (Feat. Robyn)

Kindness provided some of the shining beats on Robyn’s 2018 record Honey so it’s no surprise that they strike gold together once again. It has that rattling funk of a Kindness song with the melodic sweet spots of a Robyn song. The perfect combination.

2. Sigrid – Mine Right Now

Sigrid’s debut album Sucker Punch is wall-to-wall full of hits so it’s difficult to pick just one but we think Mine Right Now stands above the rest. It’s got that pulsating bass chorus that we loved so much in Strangers and a powerhouse vocal only she could deliver.

1. Tayla Parx – I Want You

Tayla Parx is one of the greatest songwriters around right now but I Want You proves she could also be one of the best artists. It’s an expert pop song with wobbling bass that gets you feeling all kind of ways. This has to be a hit.
