Giving the gays everything they want.
10. Skepta – Greaze Mode (Feat. Nafe Smallz)
Skepta has obviously spent some time in Astroworld because the first drop off his forthcoming album Ignorance Is Bliss is full of Travis Scott nods. It’s still 100 per cent Skepta though, building serious hype for the full record.
9. Madonna – Crave (Feat. Swae Lee)
Everything Madonna has dropped off her forthcoming album Madame X suggests that it could be one of the best she’s dropped this side of the millennium. Crave is a beautifully finessed, future RnB track elevated by Swae Lee’s presence.
8. A$AP Ferg & A$AP Rocky – Pups
Despite being consistent collaborators Ferg and Rocky have actually never really made a classic. This is the closest they’ve come to. Pups is playful and skilful with the pair trying to one-up each other at a rapid rate.
7. KIAN – Telephone
KIAN’s debut EP Bliss is out today and the best thing about it is he’s not out to prove anything. It’s a self-assured confident release, brought home strong by this smooth hybrid of RnB and alternative rock.
6. ROLE MODEL – Minimal
ROLE MODEL is the moniker of 21 year-old LA artist Tucker Pillsbury who has signed a deal with Interscope and looks to be ready to infiltrate the DIY pop scene. His latest cut is Minimal, a gorgeously low-key cut that stays true to its title with gentle guitar plucks and slow rolling lyrics.
5. Kira Puru – Everything Is Better Without You
Aussie pop Queen Kira Puru is back with her first new banger of the year Everything Is Better Without You and she doesn’t disappoint. Maintaining those sharp-tongued lyrics, she gives us her most straight-up pop moment yet and it’s glorious.
4. Ari Lennox – New Apartment
Ari Lennox’s Shea Butter Baby LP is a breath of fresh air and while it’s hard to pick a favourite, we’ve been stuck on New Apartment. It’s a pure RnB cut that gets in its feelings and never loses them.
3. Isaac Dunbar – Cologne
If you’re not around Isaac Dunbar, it’s time we changed that. He’s a 15 year-old popstar in the making, creating finessed, elongated pop music for a new generation. His latest is Cologne and it’s the most haunting thing he’s ever released. There are definitely hints of Billie Eilish in here, particularly in terms of his hushed, swaying delivery, but ultimately this is its own beast.
2. CXLOE – Low Blow
Sydney artist CXLOE has had a stunning run recently continuing it today with the excellent Low Blow. Low Blow sees her once again serving up intricate, pulsating pop music that rattles the core with its hard-hitting chorus.
1. Carly Rae Jepsen – Too Much
Too Much may just be the best track Carly has dropped off Dedicated yet. It feels as slippery and effortless as the best moments on E.MO.TION and it has us very excited for what’s next.
