King Princess has dropped Ain’t Together from her forthcoming album Cheap Queen, recruiting Father John Misty for some drum work.
Like much of Misty’s work, it’s a slow-moving, folk-tinged song but this isn’t his show – it’s all about King Princess.
She smoulders with a smokey vocal while telling her lover that there’s no use putting a label on what they’ve got.
King Princess may channel ’90s singer-songwriters sonically but her worldview is far beyond that era. She’s proving herself to be a poignant, boundary-pushing songwriter simply by being herself.
