11 Songs You Need To Hear This Week: Tove Lo, Caroline Polachek, DaBaby And More

Written By Sam Murphy on 09/21/2019

A list so hot it’ll hurt your feelings.

11. Hannah Diamond & Danny L. Harle – Part Of Me

Hannah Diamond has released her first single this year Part Of Me and she’s recruited fellow PC Music stablemate Danny L. Harle for the song. PC Music have only released a handful of songs this year but it feels like the London label could be on the path to regaining their pop dominance with this track.

10. Hartley – Mind

Mind is only Aussie up-and-comer Hartley’s second release but she’s already developing a cohesive sound. It’s a drum ‘n’ bass-flavoured cut that finds warmth in its intimate verses.

9. Lara Andallo – 180 (Feat. Lil Spaceley)

Lara Andallo has fired out an impressive new song, recruiting local rapper Lil Spacely for 180. Andallo is a 19 year-old Sydneysider who made her first strike as an artist last month with Confidential. She’s already given us the follow-up and it’s an even larger flex than its predecessor.

8. Tiësto – God Is A Dancer (Feat. Mabel)

Mabel has teamed up with Tiësto for another smash to cap off the year. God Is A Dancer is an endlessly fun dance joint that’s likely to go harder at her shows than any of her other recent drops.

7. Princess Nokia – Sugar Honey Ice Tea (S.H.I.T)

We didn’t know Princess Nokia had this within her. Sugar Honey Ice Tea (S.H.I.T) may be the most accessible cut the cult rapper has ever released. Still, she doesn’t blunt any of her edges calling out abusers, racists and sexism.

6. Kwame – STOP KNOCKING @ MY DOOR

You can tell Kwame grew up in the reign of Kanye on this new track. The Aussie rapper delivers a relentless rap over a chopped-and-screwed soul instrumental. No beats – just pure heart.

5. KUČKA – Drowning

KUČKA has released her first single in almost four years Drowning and it’s worth the wait. Drowning is a leap forward for the alternative pop artist offering a sonically mind-bending backdrop and her most present vocal work to date.

4. Tove Lo – Sweettalk My Heart

Tove Lo is one of the best songwriters around and her new song Sweettalk My Heart flexes that. She’s just days out from releasing her new album Sunshine Kitty and this new drop is surely one of the shining moments from it.

3. Georgia – Never Let You Go

Georgia has released details of her sophomore record Seeking Thrills with her new single Never Let You Go. Following up About The Dancefloor was never going to be an easy task but Never Let You Go is a valiant effort.

2. Caroline Polachek – So Hot You’re Hurting My Feelings

Caroline Polachek has dropped a new song So Hot You’re Hurting My Feelings off her forthcoming record Pang, due out next month. It’s the fourth song she’s released under her own name and the first without Danny L. Harle on production. Instead, Daniel Nigro, who has worked with Sky Ferreira and Empress Of, and Teddy Geiger, Shawn Mendes’ go-to, co-wrote this one with Polachek.

1. DaBaby – INTRO

DaBaby is one of the most accomplished new rappers around. He’s given us plenty of turn-up anthems but on INTRO he gives us a vivid and honest insight into his life. This cut revolves around the death of his father earlier this year and gives way to some of his most emotional bars to date.
