Today, we’re launching our brand new podcast on The Interns called ‘Flopstars‘. Each week, our editor Sam Murphy will be joined by Nic Kelly and together they will delve into the pop projects that flopped on the charts but won adoration in our hearts.
It’s all about digging into the modern pop landscape and looking at why very good music sometimes gets missed by the mainstream. It’s also a chance to cast a light on some of the strongest fanbases in pop music from Charli XCX to Carly Rae Jepsen.
It’s all sounding a bit serious right now but we promise you it’s not. The podcasts are filled with games like ‘album review or IKEA furniture review?’ which will no doubt make for essential listening.
To kick it off, we’re casting a spotlight on Carly Rae Jepsen‘s seminal 2015 record E.MO.TION. The album failed to make any waves commercially but it established Jeppo as a cult hero and a critical darling. Listen on Anchor, Google Podcasts, Pocket Casts, RadioPublic, Spotify and more.
